Genre

One of the first steps when thinking up ideas and trying to plan out things, was choosing a genre in which to work with and applying to a target audience. We mind-mapped a wide variety of genres and discussed, in depth, the advantages and disadvantages of creating a short film concering the specific genre. For example it would be extremely hard for us to produce an animation film as we do not have the skills needed to make one. Whereas it would be quite possible for us to create a well made documentary or even a mock-documentary as we would have the right equipment and facilities to do so.

We narrowed it down to a choice of a light-hearted comedic/entertainment film, a Mock-documentary or horror film. We felt that, as we made a horror for our AS Media project we should do something else and that a comedy/pure entertainment piece was the way to go.
